How it's different

Why we made
a separate style.

Memorial portraits aren't supposed to feel like the other five styles. They aren't meant to be loud, regal, or witty. They're meant to feel like the moment you remember them most clearly, quiet, warm, and present.

I.

Soft, directional light

We render the portrait with light from above and slightly behind, creating a quiet halo through the fur. Never harsh. Never theatrical.

II.

Peaceful expression

The pet looks calmly toward the viewer, eyes soft, head dignified. We don't render distress or theatrical sadness. Just stillness.

III.

Warm, reverent palette

Cream-to-sepia tones with the pet's natural colours preserved. No religious symbols, no halos as literal rings, no text or dates. A portrait, not a memorial card.

A note about photographs

The photo doesn't
have to be perfect.

We know the photograph you have might not be the one you would have chosen. It might be slightly blurry. It might be from years ago. Their eyes might be half-closed.

Send us what you have. Our quality gate is designed to extract every detail it can from even modest photographs. If we genuinely cannot render a recognisable portrait, we'll tell you before we charge you anything.

Memorial portraits,
without small print.

How much does a Memorial portrait cost?+

From €69 for the 30×30cm print, the same as any other Olea & Hound portrait. €99 for the 40×40cm print, €129 for the 50×50cm statement. Memorial isn't a "premium" tier and it isn't an upcharge. Same six styles, same museum-grade giclée paper, same numbered certificate. We don't charge more for grief.

Can I add their name or a date to the print?+

We deliberately don't add text, names, or dates to Memorial portraits. They tend to push a portrait from "remembering them" toward "memorialising them", and most owners we've spoken to prefer the former. If you'd like a small engraved nameplate added to the frame, email us at [email protected] and we can quote it as a custom add-on.

What if I want to see all six styles, not just Memorial?+

You can. Every upload generates all six previews. Memorial is just one of them. Some owners find the Watercolour or Royal Portrait style actually captures their pet more comfortably than the explicit Memorial treatment. Upload, see all six, choose what feels right.

Can I order more than one as a gift for family?+

Yes, and many do. Order a print for each family member so siblings or partners can each have a matching portrait on the wall. Email us at [email protected] if you'd like several different styles of the same pet, or a set shipped to different addresses.
